Originating in Persia, the family-owned company has dealt for generations in Oriental Art and established Oriental Rug business all over the world. The owners are experts in evaluating, selecting, and appraising rugs for over 35 years. They have lectured on various aspects of oriental rugs throughout the Washington Metropolitan area offering courses in schools, universities and museums. They collect oriental rugs and provide courses and seminars on history, techniques, and value of investment in oriental rugs. They further advise clients on buying rugs and assist them in purchasing rugs of high quality from reliable sources.
Occidental Orientals offers the following services:
- Appraisals: Learn about rugs you own and intend to buy. Learn about their history, origin and their current values. We will appraise rugs you intend to buy, rugs you own and wish to update, and rugs which have been damaged.
Occidental Orientals appraises and consults on rugs for various businesses and insurance companies.
Appraisal fee: $100 for the first rug and $75 for each additional rug. There is an additional charge for travel to your home. An invoice will be issued listing the type of rug, its country and place of origin, and its appraised value. Appraisals by appointment only.
- Care and Repair: Obtain advice on condition of your rugs. We will recommend care, repair, and will repair fringes and edges for you where appropriate.
- Purchase: We will advise you on replacing and buying your rugs and will select and procure them for you upon request.
Care, repair, purchase of replacement rugs are handled on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the service.
